Organisation Profile
HERON Digital Education & Mathisis is a Cyprus-based non-profit educational organisation founded in 2018 by experienced educators. It combines educational research, curriculum and resource development, teacher professional development, digital learning, STEAM, coding and the pedagogical use of emerging technologies.
HERON works across the full educational innovation cycle: from needs analysis and instructional design, to the development of interactive learning content and teaching manuals, teacher training, classroom piloting, evaluation, dissemination and large-scale educational events.
HERON is also responsible for the educational programmes of the Cyprus Computer Museum, providing a practical non-formal learning environment in which new activities can be tested with teachers and students and subsequently transferred to schools and European project settings.

Interactive Content Development
Design and development of engaging digital learning resources, interactive activities, multimedia content and open educational resources (OER) that can be used in classroom, blended and online learning contexts.
Teaching Manuals & Educational Toolkits
Development of structured teacher manuals, implementation guides, lesson scenarios, student activities, toolkits and supporting materials designed for practical adoption by schools and educators.
Teacher Training & Professional Development
Design and delivery of face-to-face, hybrid and online training for teachers, trainers and education professionals. HERON trains more than 300 teachers each year on digital pedagogy, ICT, STEAM, AI and emerging educational technologies.
Science Fairs, Student Events & Workshops
Experience in organising and supporting large-scale student workshops, science fairs, showcase events and hands-on activities that bring together schools, teachers, students, families and educational stakeholders.
Piloting, Evaluation & Educational Research
Capacity to test project outputs in authentic learning settings, collect feedback from educators and learners, evaluate usability and learning value, and refine materials before wider dissemination.
Dissemination & Stakeholder Engagement
Strong networks in formal and non-formal education, enabling HERON to support outreach, multiplier activities, dissemination, transferability and sustainability of European project results.
Typical Roles in European Projects
- Lead or co-lead development of educational content, OERs, interactive resources and teacher manuals.
- Design and deliver teacher training, capacity-building programmes and mentoring activities.
- Coordinate school-based piloting, feedback collection, validation and educational evaluation.
- Organise science fairs, student showcases, workshops, multiplier events and dissemination activities.
- Contribute to project management, quality assurance, stakeholder engagement and sustainability planning.

European Commission Representation in Cyprus
Cooperation and participation in education, digital-skills and European-awareness activities and events. Our team includes EU CodeWeek Ambassador and Leading Teachers.
British High Commission in Cyprus
Collaboration and participation in educational and outreach initiatives.
Cyprus Computer Museum
HERON is responsible for the Museum’s educational programmes, providing a unique non-formal learning environment for school visits, workshops, pilots, demonstrations and project dissemination.

European Added Value
HERON combines content-production capacity, direct access to teachers and students, non-formal education infrastructure, and experience in European cooperation. This makes the organisation particularly suitable for projects that need to move from concept and curriculum design to practical implementation, teacher uptake, student engagement and visible dissemination.
Erasmus+ & European Cooperation Experience
Since 2018, HERON has participated in Erasmus+ cooperation projects, including small-scale (KA210) and cooperation partnerships (KA220), while its team also brings experience from earlier European education projects. HERON contributes across content development, training, piloting, evaluation, dissemination and sustainability.
